How companies use personal information is a concern for all of us!
For each visitor to our Web site, our Web server automatically recognizes the visitor’s IP address and general information about the operating system, browser, and location of the connection. We collect aggregate information on what pages consumers access or visit in order to better serve our audience but do not collect any identity-specific information during visits unless the visitor places an order.
When a visitor places an order, we transfer and receive certain types of identity-specific information, redirecting visitors to a secure server for the duration of the actual shopping cart process where information is collected (notice that http:// becomes https:// in your browser window during the secure checkout process).
The non-specific aggregate information we collect is used for internal review and is then discarded, used only to improve the content of our Web page.
Identity-specific contact information gathered from placed orders is used to process and facilitate those orders and an order history is kept and protected internally. Identity-specific information is never shared with third parties but can be disclosed when legally required to do so, at the request of governmental authorities conducting an investigation, to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our Website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Website.
We also reserve the right to use order history data to occasionally notify our previous customers of additional information about their order, our company, new releases, or special promotions directly from Fine Print Publishing Company.
Fine Print Publishing offers our books for sale directly from us in our online bookstore. If you are under the age of 18, please get the help of your parent or guardian to purchase our books from us online. You may also purchase our books from you local bookstore or from Scholastic Book Fairs across the United States.
Our blog allows visitors to post comments and while an email address is required, that email address is used to send a simple thank you for the comment and is then promptly discarded. At no time is the email address shown live online or used for additional contact to visitors leaving comments in our blog. Parents and their children should feel free to leave us anonymous messages there without fear of having additional unsolicited contacts or having their email addresses harvested and used by third parties!
Keeping Children Safe
Since we publish books catered to girls between the ages of 8 and 14, we’re particularly concerned with the safety and privacy of minors and are in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act passed by Congress in 1998. To learn more about COPPA and keeping children safe on the Internet in an easier-to-understand format, visit the FTC’s Kidz Privacy site.

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our Web site to notify you of these changes and we will use for these new purposes only data collected from the time of the policy change forward. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should check back at our Web site periodically.
